Li Lianjie is one of the most well known faces in martial arts movies, but you probably know him better as Jet Li . From martial arts movies in the '80s and '90s up to modern-day franchises like The Expendables, Li has been an action star for as long as many moviegoers can remember. But fans were sent into a frenzy after a 2018 photo of the actor appearing aged beyond his years went viral. The snapshot was almost unrecognizable as the great martial arts star. Born in 1963, the martial artist would have just turned 55 at the time the buzzworthy picture was posted, but many thought he appeared to be 20 or 30 years older. STORYLINE:

Philippine action film star and presidential candidate Fernando Poe Junior, who refused to concede May's presidential election, died early Tuesday after suffering a stroke and slipping into a coma, his doctor said.

He was 65 years old.

Poe died at St. Luke's Hospital, where he was rushed late Saturday after complaining of dizziness while dining and drinking with friends.

He later slipped into a coma as doctors tried to use drugs to clear a blood clot in his brain.

His condition gradually worsened Monday, Poe's doctor, Abdias Aquino, told reporters.

Poe's wife, actress Susan Roces, issued a statement thanking Filipinos for praying for her husband, referring to him by two of his nicknames.

"We are indebted to your being with him in the face of the challenges in the life of Ronnie. The Filipino people are in FPJ's heart."

Poe's fellow actors and politicians rushed to the lobby of the hospital as the news of his death spread.

Some wept as they went in.

One of Poe's two daughters, Mary Grace, flew in from Los Angeles, but arrived minutes after her father passed away, TV networks reported.

The reclusive film star reluctantly agreed to become the opposition's main challenger to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in the May 10 election but lost by 1.1 (m) million votes.

Two months later, Poe asked the Supreme Court to nullify Arroyo's victory and declare him the country's leader, accusing her party of committing massive electoral fraud.

Arroyo's camp denied any wrongdoing and expressed confidence the Supreme Court would eventually throw out Poe's protest, which traditionally takes years to resolve.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo called her rival "a worthy adversary in politics and a great Filipino."
